A Guide to Kickboxing Rules

A Guide to Kickboxing Rules The Rules of the Game and More: Your Essential Guide to Kickboxing ChaptersA Guide to Kickboxing Rules. Some Notes on Kickboxing Ages and Weights. How Does Ranking Work for Kickboxing?Join a Kickboxing Class. The combat sport of kickboxing has a long history â€" bringing influences and inspirations from boxing traditions across the globe. From Muay Thai kickboxing to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Taekwondo to full-contact Karate, from English boxing to French savate, all of these different combat sports were brought together to form the thing that we, in the west, now know as kickboxing. To this fact we owe the beauty of the sport â€" as well as its potential complexity and heterogeneity. American kickboxing does not necessarily follow the same rules as Dutch kickboxing, just as different world championships â€" run by different organisations â€" do not have the same rules either. So, Glory kickboxing will not be precisely the same as K-1 kickboxing, as each has its own specific regulations. And it should go without saying that Muay Thai boxing and savate are ess entially different sports. Find out more about the different types of kickboxing here. But, for those of you who are looking to get started in the sport â€" or who are just interested in hearing what it involves â€" we’ve put together a guide of the essential things you need to know about the sport. And, the important thing here is that we are going to be focusing on the Glory rules, as this is probably the largest kickboxing association in the world right now. Here we go. These are the essential rules you need to know before embarking on your kickboxing training. And then check out the health benefits of kickboxing! This, in fact, is precisely not what kickboxing is.Rather, the bouts are defined and regulated by a very specific set of rules, which outlaw particular moves, which value particular moves over others, and which provide the structure which allow the fighters to be ranked.Like all martial arts, kickboxing is more about the elegance of the techniques and the agility of the fighter. Just slinging punches and low kicks is never enough. What’s the Aim of a Kickboxing Bout?Let’s start with the fundamental question: what exactly is the point of a kickboxing fight? How do you win it?Whilst many things depend on the particular association under which you are playing, the central aim of essentially all kickboxing matches is the knockout. Quite simply, here, you are aiming to knock the other person out. This can happen in a number of ways. The first, simply, requires that one of the fighters can’t resume the fight â€" either within a count to ten or before that if the fighter needs medical assistance.Otherwise, in Glory kickboxing, there are numerous ways to achieve a technical knockout: if your opponent submits, if the referee determines that your opponent is just totally outclassed, if a doctor says that your opponent cann ot continue â€" or if you have knocked your opponent down three times in a round. This is only a sample of the ways, by the way.Besides a knockout â€" technical or otherwise â€" a fighter can win through points, which are allocated at the end of each round for the quality of the fighters’ fight. If no-one has suffered a knockout, then points are added up at the end. This is how kickboxing matches can end in a draw. You’ll have noticed, however, that fighters are often listed with the number of knockouts they’ve dished out. This, primarily, is the aim. Different types of kickboxing have different rulesHow Do You Score Points in Kickboxing? In Glory kickboxing, points are awarded at the end of the fight only if there hasn’t been a unanimous winner through knockout. At the end of each round, points are noted by the judges â€" of which there are three or five. Scores for each round are one of the following:10-10, in which there is no discernible difference between the two fighters’ performance.10-9, in which one fighter’s performance was better.10-8, in which one fighter’s performance involving knocking down the other (putting them on the floor [‘takedowns’] rather than knocking them out).10-7, in which one fighter knocks the other down twice.Besides the number of knockdowns, the points are awarded for a number of other reasons. These are the amount of damage that one kickboxer inflicts upon the other; the number of ‘spectacular’ or simply ‘normal’ techniques that strike the opponent cleanly; and the degree of aggres siveness. These ‘spectacular’ techniques are those in which ‘flying’ or spinning is involved â€" such as the roundhouse kick or high kick. And the point about aggressiveness is to encourage action: you ain’t going to do very well if you limit yourself to self-defense moves. Giorgio Petrosyan is famed for his defense skills, but he has a wicked attack too.And How Do You Win?As we said above, kick boxing is won either through a knockout or through the quality of your punching and kicking performance.Ultimately, this is all up to the judge’s decision â€" or to the referee’s, if you are fighting at a much lower tier.Any Other Rules You Need to Remember? It’s important to keep in mind some of the other rules of the sport. Whilst in Muay Thai you can use elbows and knees to strike your opponent, only the knees are permitted in Glory kickboxing. The same applies with clinching. This is a common move in Muay Thai, yet, if you want to clinch in Glory, you need to immediately fol low it with a knee strike â€" otherwise it is forbidden and you will be penalised.Otherwise, avoid strikes to the knee, the groin, and the back of the head and back.Glory kickboxing is all about fighting techniques striking with the fists and feet: the jab, uppercut, front kick, hook kick, right cross and sweeps are the sort of things you are aiming for. In short, punch and kick. What is Classed as a Foul?Anything that is not a legitimate move will be classed as a foul. This includes elbow strikes, biting, head butts, or moves from judo or wrestling. Kickboxing is not really a game of grappling. However, you’ll be penalised for a whole range of other things too: passivity, ignoring the ref, spitting out your mouthguard, ‘unsportsmanlike conduct’, or continuing to strike if your opponent is on the ground.Honestly, these are all pretty legitimate. And if you do this stuff, it’s really not a great look. In kickboxing, it's important to play by the rules. Some Notes on Kickboxing Ages and Weights. If you are looking to turn your personal training in kickboxing into something more competitive, then you need to know a few things about the structure of the sport and the different categories under which you might fall. The main ones regard age and bodyweight â€" and, again, they are fairly legitimate. It’s not really on if, as a lightweight black belt you enter the ring with a super heavyweight. Whilst you might be in the best shape, there’s not much chance that you are getting up from a straight punch. How Old Do You Need to Be to Start? The same applies to age â€" and there are three age categories that you need to be aware of in Glory kickboxing.Under the age of twelve, you’re not permitted in the ring. So, take it easy and wait a while if you are any younger than that. From the age of twelve, you’re classed as an ‘Aspirant’ â€" and you’ll be fighting people up to the age of fifteen.Kickboxers between sixteen and eighteen are juniors, whilst fighters between nineteen and 49 are seniors. Not though, people, that you can’t start to kickbox competitively if you are over thirty. That means that the first fight of all boxers should be before their thirtieth birthday.Which Weight Class Do You Fall Into?Glory kickboxing runs fights in six different weight classes:Featherweight (max 65kg)Lightweight (70kg)Welterweight (77kg)Middleweight (85kg)Light Heavyweight (95kg)Heavyweight (over 95kg)Whilst other associations have classes for bantamweight, Glory kickboxing do not.People in a particular weight class will only fight others in the same class. The boxing gloves that opponents wear need to be the same in weight â€" and competitors need to be ranked similarly too.How Does Ranking Work for Kickboxing? You might be interested in finding out how different kickboxers are ranked. Because, a bit like tennis, sure you can say ‘he’s the best in the world’ â€" but where does that actually come from?Obviously, to be a world champion, you need to have won a world association championship. But how does a kickboxing champion gets ranked among all the others?Check out some of the biggest names in kickboxing!Ranking Points. The answer, in Glory rules at least, is through ranking points. These are a little complex.Throughout a year, during each fight, you earn or lose ranking points. If your opponent has x number of points, if you win, if receive twenty-five percent of their points (or thirty-five for a KO).If you lose to someone with fewer ranking points than you, however, you lose twenty-five percent of the difference between you and your opponent’s points. All clear? How to Play Guitar Learn the Easy Way!

How to Play Guitar Learn the Easy Way! How hard is it to learn to play the guitar? ChaptersThe day I discovered tablaturesHow can you start learning to play without knowing solfeggio?Guitar tricks to learn guitar easilyPractice your instrumentThe minimum requirement for the guitar is motivationAt first sight, of all the instruments that we have today the guitar seems to be one of the most accessible to pick up and learn. It is ubiquitous, and its popularity with teens is no surprise given how fast they can pick it up and strum their first chords.Of course, it is only half-true to call the guitar a very easy musical instrument: even if it is relatively simple compared to other instruments like violin, piano, drums or a wind instrument, you still need to know the basics  to be able to learn the guitar.Another technique to learn guitar easily is to use the internet; today it is easy to learn guitar as you can find videos to watch videos many times over, or pause them to study particular hand movements or finger placement.Learn to play an acoustic guitar or an electric guitar quickly. It really is an indispensable learning tool which will help you gain experience fairly quickly.Overall, though the guitar can be an easy instrument to learn, you must find the right method to learn it.This “right method” is personal to you, and though not everyone has the chance to learn with a private teacher, there is a vast range of options when it comes to learning this instrument.Always weigh the pros and cons for each method, check the quality of the guitar lessons and methods, and pay attention to the rates charged.Advice to make learning guitar easierThis advice is not “one-size-fits-all” as each individual has their own resources and their own way of reacting to problems, but nevertheless, as with any instrument, learning guitar comes with certain universal foundations. When you know how to apply them, learning the guitar will actually be fun.Practice your instrumentSurely one of the most important tips to follow: everything you will learn to guitar, w hether in theory or practice, requires regular training. You need to repeat the same movements over again to successfully play a sequence, a string of chords or a perfect solo. You must be able to play instinctively, almost automatically, so that your brain and hands do not struggle to work in harmony.Everything must become fluid and natural. By working between 15 and 30 minutes per day you will ensure optimum conditions to learn the guitar.Enjoy yourselfEven if the work is important, never forget that playing guitar is fun.  Work is necessary to learn the techniques, but it is important that you enjoy yourself playing your guitar, composing, deciphering or even improvising pieces.Take private lessonsAlthough not everyone has the time, the means, or the desire to take guitar lessons, whether in a music school or a teacher, if you have the opportunity, you should do it.You will learn a lot about the instrument, and its practice but also about yourself. The teacher will be like a guide, will answer your questions, and will help you avoid bad habits. This invaluable contribution to learning guitar will save your energy and time.Don’t forget the theoryNot everyone will like this advice, but it cannot be ignored.Musical theory is an integral part of learning an instrument and the guitar is not exempt from this. Many beginners neglect this aspect and it is a mistake: learning the basics of theory will help you to compose, improvise or simply better understand what you are playing.Having studied the theory a new guitarist can start to think about how to choose their first guitar.Train your musical earLearn to listen to music, learn how to break it down, find each instrument in a piece, discover what bass lines are, what rhythms are most common, the strokes, and so on.Little by little, you will develop other skills and you will correct your own mistakes.Play with other musiciansMusic is made to be shared, and there is no better way to appreciate it than by playing with others. Do not think you cannot give it a go because you are a beginner, quite the opposite; everyone starts somewhere.Slash Band : Guitarists are stronger togethers !By joining a band, by tapping along with other musicians, you will learn from observing and listening to them, being able to ask questions, and receive advice, useful tips and tricks. The minimum requirement for the guitar is motivationThe guitar can be an easy instrument but you have to be motivated and have the right method, these are the 2 basic ingredients that you need to progress from novice to enlightened guitarist. If you are passionate, if you always want to know more about the practice and the guitar and about the different techniques available (picking, tapping, etc.), then you will progress serenely. You will also learn how to play the guitar faster.Motivation is the key to success : I give my guitarist word !The guitar must remain a pleasure, a joy to share; the more you learn, the greater your desire to lea rn will grow and the guitar will seem easier and easier.Work on your concentration, always remain motivated, persevere and learning this instrument will come easily to you.You will not longer have to ask how to learn the guitar.  Discover the big advantages of taking guitar lessons.

Love The Career Hate The Job - Introvert Whisperer

Introvert Whisperer / Love The Career Hate The Job - Introvert Whisperer Love The Career? Hate The Job? There are times when we are well immersed in our careers, convinced we love the work we do, and yet we’re unhappy with our job. It’s not a comfortable feeling to have. We’re left wondering if we made a bad decision about the career, because we can’t sort out our feelings about the situation. Sometimes we think the whole thing is wrong for us and other times, we think it’s simply our employer or business that’s the problem. We’re reluctant to leave our careers, because we might be sacrificing something great simply because we can’t clarify the issue. This happens with many of us. It’s a problem to be solved and sometimes, it might require a keen ear and unbiased point of view to help. Nevertheless, there is some work you can do that will help you solve your dilemma. Here are some questions to consider: Will the issue you have go away in another setting? You may have multiple issues to consider, but you have to look at whether transferring to another department, business or industry will make the problems go away. Sometimes, the issues you have are inherent to the career and you can’t get away from them. When I worked in education, I felt very de-motivated when I looked at some of my peers. I worked long hours and did what it took to help my students excel. I saw teachers who used the same, out of date, boring lesson plans year after year and left the building 5 minutes after the kids did. Those teachers got the same amount of pay increase I did. This situation was not going to change, no matter what school district I went to. It was simply how the system worked; but I needed to be rewarded for my results. This was an insurmountable issue for me. I had to able to work with people who shared my work ethic. If you dislike conflict, you might not want to be a lawyer. If you don’t like long hours, you might not want to stay in sales; and if you don’t like repetition you might not want to do production work. There are some careers that have features that simply are part of landscape. Is it a proportion issue? All careers have components to them that are going to be less desirable than others. You may have run into a great career, but there is some item that you must do that drives you crazy. You may discover that the item may shrink over time or in other settings. I purposely avoided finance careers, because I didn’t want to do a job that worked too much with numbers and math. I discovered that if working with numbers lead me to an analysis and decision, or managing a budget, it was ok. Neither item was so encompassing that it created a problem. If the proportion grew bigger, it would have been. Are there too many issues to sort out and problem solve? You know the saying about when you’re draining the swamp, it’s hard to remember why you’re there, when you’re surrounded by alligators. Sometimes, the dynamics of your work situation is such that you can’t see the real issues. You might have conflict with co-workers, a ditzy boss and long working hours. A big pile-on of stress makes sorting out these questions so unclear that you can’t problem solve your career question until you do something to actively improve your environment. You can do more than you might think in your work situation to change some of the things that are causing you discord. Again, do some research, read books or counsel with someone to help you with some actions to help change the environment. It doesn’t always take a directive from the boss to make a difference. What do you do if you discover it’s a career problem? Don’t despair! If you’ve spent some time sorting through this issue, you probably discovered the parts of your career that you do love. Do your homework and figure out other jobs where that part exists in alliance with new elements to form a completely different career. It’s called transferrable skills; and there are usually numerous jobs that capitalize on or expand on the things you like best. Understand, like everything else, you are never going to love or hate all the parts of your career. I think what you are looking for is to like most of your career and job, most of the time. Mount Fuji is an active volcano and the summit is a crater that has erupted many times in the past.Mount Fuji is an important place in Japanese religion. It’s often known as Fujiyama and Fuji-San (Mr Fuji). It's worshipped as a god (kami) in Japan and its volcanic activity symbolises the earth, sky, and fire.  Thus, plenty pilgrims make the journey to the summit of Mount Fuji either on foot or in the cable car. From the foot of the mountain to the summit, there are plenty of shrines and hot springs warmed by the volcanic activity of Mount Fuji.Mount Fuji has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as “Fujisan, sacred place and source of artistic inspiration.”. Here’s its UNESCO entry:“The beauty of the solitary, often snow-capped, stra tovolcano, known around the world as Mount Fuji, rising above villages and tree-fringed sea and lakes has long been the object of pilgrimages and inspired artists and poets. The inscribed property consists of 25 sites which reflect the essence of Fujisan’s sacred and artistic landscape. In the 12th century, Fujisan became the centre of training for ascetic Buddhism, which included Shinto elements. On the upper 1,500-metre tier of the 3,776m mountain, pilgrim routes and crater shrines have been inscribed alongside sites around the base of the mountain including Sengen-jinja shrines, Oshi lodging houses, and natural volcanic features such as lava tree moulds, lakes, springs and waterfalls, which are revered as sacred. Its representation in Japanese art goes back to the 11th century, but 19th century woodblock prints of views, including those from sand beaches with pine tree groves have made Fujisan an internationally recognized icon of Japan and have had a deep impact on the develop ment of Western art.”If you travel to Japan, you have to see it. Furthermore, there’s the rich history behind it.Find out more about Mount Fuji. The History of Mount FujiMount Fuji appeared 600,000 years ago as an active volcano (even though it's still an active volcano, it hasn’t erupted since 1707). During the Jomon Period, there were 4 major eruptions:SengokuOsawaOmuroSunazawa A lot has happened at Mount Fuji over the years. (Source: Walkerssk)This was around 3,000 years ago but around 2,300 years ago, the eastern face of the volcano collapsed creating the Hoei-Zan on the south-east of the mountain. The mudflows flowed down to the Gotemba area which is why it was called the Gotemba mudflow.Mountain Fuji has been considered a sacred mountain since the 7th century. In the Shinto religion, the emperor gave the order to destroy its summit to release the elixir that it contained. This is why there are several shrines on the mountain.Find out more about the cost of visiting Mount Fuji.Eruptions of Mount Fuji through the YearsThere have been several major eruptions at Mount Fuji. The first of these major eruptions took place in the Jogan era in 864. This eruption covered the northeast of the volcano with huge lava flows separating the La ke Senoumi into the Saiko and Shojiko lakes. Mount Fuji is still an active volcano but it hasn't erupted in many years. (Source: thiagodr)There were sixteen recorded eruptions between 800 and 1083 during the Heian era. Periods of inactivity at Mount Fuji can last for centuries like between 1083 and 1511.The most recent eruption was recorded in 1707 in the Hoei era. This was known as the great Hoei eruption and took place 49 years after the Great Hoei earthquake, one of the biggest earthquakes to have ever hit Japan. This created three new volcanic vents. This eruption caused lava flows and spread volcanic ash across the Edo region (now Tokyo) sixty miles from the volcano. This was a 4 on the Volcanic Explosivity Index.Since the last eruption, earthquakes are monitored, with the last one of note being a 6.4 on the Richter Scale in 2011. These natural catastrophes haven’t stopped the Japanese from regularly climbing the mountain.Find out how to plan a trip to Mount Fuji.Mount Fuji in Popular CultureMount Fuji is only open two m onths of the year: July and August. Climbing to the top of this natural Japanese sanctuary is an essential activity for anyone visiting it.Find out what else there is to do at Mount Fuji. Now that you know a bit more about Mount Fuji, you can start planning your trip to Japan. To learn more about Japan and its main cities, check out our other articles on the subject. If you're interested in learning Japanese, there are plenty of great resources online to help you. Similarly, you can also get help with your Japanese from one of the many talented tutors on Superprof. There are three main types of tutorial available for Japanese: face-to-face tutorials, online tutorials, and group tutorials. Each has its pros and cons and you'll have to choose the type that's right for you and your budget.Face-to-face tutorials are the most effective type  as you're the only student so the tutor can tailor the entire programme and each tutorial to you. Of course, this bespoke service comes at a cost and face-to-face tutorials tend to be the most costly per hour.If you're on a budget, online tutor ials might be a better option. If you've got a decent webcam or microphone, your tutor can teach you how to speak Japanese remotely over the internet. Since the tutor doesn't have to travel to their students and can, therefore, schedule more tutorials each week, they tend to charge less than one-on-one tutorials.Group tutorials are usually the cheapest type of tutorial since there are several students all paying for the tutors time. While this is great for those on a budget, it can sometimes mean that you won't get as much one-on-one time with your tutor and the tutorials won't be tailored to you and what you want to learn. However, when it comes to language tutorials, this also means that you'll have many different people to practise your new language with, which can be more interesting than having to speak to the same person every session.Generally, it's a good idea to start a new hobby with group tutorials as they're less of an investment. Once you get serious about it, you can a lways start working with a face-to-face or online tutor and learning exactly what you want to learn. Before you make your decision, remember that many of the tutors on Superprof will offer free tuition for the first hour. This means you can try a few tutors, see if you like their teaching style, and see if you get along with them. After all, it's useless paying for a tutor that you don't enjoy spending time with!

Einstein, Albert (1879-1955) If you ask mathematicians what they do, you always get the same answer. They think. They think about difficult and unusual problems. They do not think about ordinary problems: they just write down the answers. Egrafov, M. Inspirational Success Story: I still remember the day when a shy 6th grade student named Vanessa took her first online math lessons with me. Vanessas vice principal had actually recommended her to utilize Tutor Pace after school tutoring service program. I asked to the student to take a diagnostics test so I can find out where she was struggling in math. After seeing her result from diagnostic test, I decided to develop a student learning program for her and planned to boost her confidence by teaching her to add fractions. I knew from my previous experience that children build anxiety and nervousness about math when they first start working on math problems. Because I developed my lesson plans which involved multiplications, math magic and math techniques but when I asked Vanessa if she knows anything about multiplications, she stated she had no idea what the multiplications meant. Even she was struggling with the counting a number. She was terribly kept saying that I dont understand it at all But with the right lesson plan, I was able to help her into developing mathematicians. My secret was for her to carefully guiding her adventure in numbers

Steps to Managing Video Gaming in Kids with ADHD

Steps to Managing Video Gaming in Kids with ADHD Last weeks post was dedicated to new research about ADHD and risk for video game addiction. While research in this area is still emerging, the finding that we have already are enough to cause parents, teachers, and therapists to be concerned. Up to 90% of kids and teens spend time playing video games,1 making it very difficult for parents to eliminate video games from their childrens lives altogether. This is especially true for kids and teens who have been playing video games for years with very few limitations. That said, even without eliminating video games, there are many things parents can do to help their kids develop healthy gaming habits. Recognize that kids and teens with ADHD may need more video game limits than kids without ADHD. When parents try to set limits on anything fun (including video games), kids and teens will inevitably point out that all of their friends get to do it, so they should be allowed to as well. Its important to realize that kids with ADHD need firmer limits and structure around certain activities than kids without ADHD and video games fall into this category. Just as children who are at high risk for developing Type 2 diabetes need more structure and support around healthy eating, kids with ADHD who may be at high risk for developing problematic video game use need more structure and support around their gaming time. So, dont give in to the everyone else is doing it argument when it comes to video games. Keep screens out of the bedrooms. Perhaps the number one most effective strategy for preventing excessive video game use is to keep all screens (tablets, phones, televisions, and computers) out of a child or teens bedroom. When screens are in kids bedrooms their screen time is much less likely to be monitored, and they are much more likely to be playing video games when they should be sleeping instead. If you have a teenager who is used to having phones and tablets in his or her room, have him or her put the devices on a charging station that is in the kitchen, the parents bedroom, or even in a cabinet that is locked by his or her parents before bed. The change will be hard for your child at first but will get easier over time. Fill their time with other activities. If your child or teen is busy with activities that are not screen-related, he or she will simply have less time to play video games. If you have a child who loves playing video games more than he or she enjoys doing anything else, then that is a sign that the child needs your help (or the help of a therapist or school counselor) to find other activities that he or she will find rewarding. Some kids with ADHD dont enjoy group activities like sports or drama club, and thats okay. There are other activities out there! Try individual sports (swimming, gymnastics, karate, etc.), art or craftsman classes, or clubs where kids can share in their love of robots, rockets or even frogs! Not all of the activities in a child or teens day need to be extracurricular. Teens can work at a part-time job (paid or volunteer), and homework and academic support need to be part of the mix. The main thing is to limit the amount of time that he or she can spend sitting in front of a screen, while also making sure that he or she has at least some fun and social activities in the day. Set limits and be consistent. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that elementary school children have no more than one hour of screen time each day, and that middle and high school kids have no more than two hours of screen time daily. This includes time spent in front of screens doing research for academic projects or playing educational games. Make a plan with your child or teen for the amount of video game time that will be allowed each day during the week and on weekends. Remind your child of these limits and have him or her set a timer whenever he or she starts gaming. Reward your child or teen for sticking to the limits. Changing behavior is hard and it helps to have some extra incentives when were working on establishing new habits. Talk with your child or teen about rewards they can earn for sticking to the new video game plan. Make sure the rewards are something your child will be motivated to earn and are things he or she can earn quickly (on a weekly basis at the very least). Kids with ADHD struggle with delayed rewards, and even if they think they will be able to work toward earning something over the course of a month or longer, they will quickly lose motivation when they feel like the reward is too far out of reach. Helping kids and teens develop healthy video game habits isnt easy. Sometimes, its harder on parents than it is on the kids! However, for kids with ADHD, limits around video gaming are important and worth the effort. If you are struggling to set limits with your child or teen, seek out help from a therapist who specializes in problematic videogaming or behavioral interventions for kids and teens with ADHD. 1https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/91-percent-of-kids-play-video-games-says-study/ ABOUT DR.
